Lathe processing knowledge

A lathe is a machine tool that mainly turns a rotating workpiece with a turning tool. On the lathe, drills, reamer, reamer, taps, dies and knurling tools can also be used for machining.


Basic knowledge of lathe machining I. Turning tool material During the cutting process, the cutting part of the tool is subjected to a lot of pressure, friction, impact and high temperature. Therefore, the tool material must have high hardness, high wear resistance, sufficient strength and toughness, and high heat resistance (red hardness), that is, it can maintain sufficient hardness at high temperatures. Common turning tool materials are mainly high speed steel and hard alloy. 1. High-speed steel High-speed steel, also known as front steel, is a high-alloy tool steel with tungsten, chromium, vanadium and molybdenum as the main alloying elements. The hardness of high speed steel after quenching is HRC 63-67, its red hard temperature is 550 ° C ~ 600 ° C, and the allowable cutting speed is 25 ~ 30 m / min. High-speed steel has high flexural strength and impact toughness. It can be used for casting, forging, welding, heat treatment and cutting. It has good grinding performance and high quality of sharpening. It is often used to manufacture tools with complex shapes, such as drill bits. , reamer, milling cutter, etc., are also often used as low-speed finishing turning tools and forming turning tools. Commonly used high-speed steel grades are W18Cr4V and W6Mo5Cr4V2. 2. Carbide cemented carbide is made by high-pressure sintering of WC (tungsten carbide), TiC (titanium carbide) and Co (cobalt) powders with high wear resistance and high heat resistance. Among them, Co acts as a bond, and the hardness of the cemented carbide is HRA89-94 (about equivalent to HRC74-82), and has a high red hard temperature. The hardness required for cutting can be maintained at a high temperature of 800 to 1000 ° C. The cutting speed of a steel cutting tool can reach 100-300 m/min. This tool can be used for high-speed cutting, and its disadvantage is poor toughness. It is brittle and not impact resistant. Carbide is generally made into blades of various shapes, welded or clamped on the body.


Lathe processing knowledge



Carefully implement the following general rules regarding lathes:


1. When looking for a positive workpiece, only use the hand plate to move the chuck or open the minimum speed to find the right one.


2. When changing the direction of the spindle rotation, it is necessary to stop the spindle first, and it is not allowed to change the direction of rotation suddenly.


3. When loading and unloading the chuck, only the triangle belt can be rotated by hand to drive the spindle to rotate. It is absolutely forbidden to directly open the machine to force loosening or tightening. At the same time, it is necessary to put a piece of wood on the bed to prevent accidents.


4. The tool should not be extended too long, the gasket should be flat, and the width should be the same as the width of the bottom surface of the tool.


5, the work is not allowed to open the anti-vehicle method to brake the spindle rotation.


3. Seriously implement the following special regulations regarding some special lathes:


(1) Returning turret lathe:


1. It is not allowed to process bar material with curved surface and thick surface.


2. When loading, the material should be pointed at the chuck hole and gently hit in. Do not disturb the knock.


(B), program-controlled transfer lathe:


Pre-selection of the project's spindle speed, tool holder feed, tool holder trajectory and continuous offside according to the process requirements. Put the electric knob in the "alignment" position and test the vehicle. After confirming that there is no problem, place the electric rotation in the automatic or semi-automatic position.
