Brief Introduction Of Die Casting Parts

Molto Precise Machining Co.,Ltd | Updated: Jun 12, 2018

Die-casting is a precision casting method. The die casting parts have very small dimensional tolerances and high surface accuracy. In most cases die-casting parts can be assembled without the need for turning. Parts can also be cast directly. Small parts such as general camera parts, typewriter parts, electronic computing devices, and accessories, as well as complex parts for vehicles such as automobiles, motorcycles, and airplanes, are mostly manufactured by die casting.

The alloys used in die castings are mainly non-ferrous alloys, and ferrous metals (steel, iron, etc.) are currently used less frequently due to problems such as mold materials. In the non-ferrous alloy die castings, aluminum alloys are used more widely, followed by zinc alloys.

What are the surface treatment processes of aluminum alloy castings?

The aluminum alloy or zinc alloy die casting surface is first polished, and then can be sandblasted, sprayed, electroplated, paint sprayed, electrophoretic, etc.

Anodizing can only be done with pure aluminum. The general product is not anodized because the silicon-containing color does not look good. However, pure aluminum is difficult to die-cast.
